Restoration of a Gravel Pit: The Woven Restoration
RISD Masters in Landscape Architecture, Fall 2021, student work
-Concept development: Use woven fences to capture leaves and natural detritus to minimize erosion + maximize soil retention, reduce widths of pathways + encourage native growth and compost. Plant a copse in lower gravel pit area to provide material for woven fences, decreasing the need to collect leaf and branch debris from other areas of the site. Redirect rain water along steep paths + slopes to encourage growth of the existing Gray Birch and Aspen.
